Oakfield Park in Raphoe, County Donegal, is a privately owned estate and railway. Sitting in a lush landscape of parklands and woodlands, overlooking the distant Croaghan Mountain, the grounds include a large lake planted with reeds and wild flowers. This is now home to swans and abundant wildlife. A castle folly built on the opposite shore provides stunning views.
Flower meadows, lakes and streams, as well as wild and wetland areas are entwined with over 4km of narrow gauge railway to give hours of pleasure.
Park features include parkland, woodland and riverside walks, during which you can enjoy abundant wildlife and thoughtfully placed pieces of sculpture. Wander through the hedge maze, and hop aboard one of the train rides operating at regular intervals throughout the day.
Buffers tea rooms serve freshly brewed coffee, tea, home baked treats, light meals and Donegal craft beers. On sunny days be sure to stop at Robinson's Vintage Ice-cream Van.
With baby changing facilities, car parking and lots of picnic benches, Oakfield Park is a great family day out.
Children can bring their favourite teddy, meet the Oakfield Park teddy and visit the Teddy Hospital at the Teddy Bear’s Picnic.
