Curracloe Beach
Reaching from Raven Point to Ballyconigar near Blackwater, Curracloe Beach is one of Ireland's best beaches. This stunning coastline is famous for its hilly dunes where the opening scenes of Saving Private Ryan were filmed.
If you want a peaceful stroll, enter via The Raven Nature Reserve, an insider tip to keep in mind if you want to avoid the busy end of the beach. The reserve is a protected area because of its vibrant flora and invertebrate fauna, including species that have disappeared elsewhere in the country.

Duncannon Beach
Just outside the fishing village of Duncannon, Duncannon Beach is a mile-long golden strand with spectacular views. On a clear day, you might even see out to Hook Head and the Waterford coast.
The beach plays host to the annual Sand Sculpting Festival where the creative masterpieces are truly out of this world, and Duncannon Fort is just a short stroll away. If you visit in July or August, make sure you take a guided tour to learn the secrets of this fascinating fortress.
